(née Jean Margaret Wemyss) Born Neepawa, Manitoba July 18,1926.
Died January 5, 1987. From age seven she wrote stories. Her gift of
writing leaves a permanent mark on contemporary Canadian Literature. Her
first writing job was as a reporter and book reviewer for the Winnipeg
Citizen. She has been able to write with experience of having lived in
England, Ghana, Greece, Crete, Palestine, India, Egypt and Spain but
Canada was always home. She is much beloved and remembered for her works,
her personal warmth, strength and humor which she shared so generously.
